| Recovery Act 2009 |
|
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed, into law, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 as an effort to revitalize our economy. Of the $787 billion allocated to the Recovery Act, $2 billion was earmarked for local law enforcement agencies. One of the elements of the $2 billion allocation is the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Program, Non-Competitive Local Solicitation. The available grant funding has already been allocated to eligible jurisdictions by a predetermined formula based on population and violent crime statistics. Under this local JAG solicitation, the eligible individual allocation for the Town of Monument was a total of $11,284. Therefore as a requirement of the grant, we would like to share with you what the Monument Police Department has requested in the grant submission.
