PRODUCTION MANAGER

Job Summary: This position oversees the supervision, scheduling, and coordination of in-house stage technicians, Local 731 IATSE stagehands, and additional crew from outside resources. The Production Manager ensures all renter technical requirements are met—including equipment needs—while developing accurate labor cost estimates and projections to support successful event execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Client & Event Support: Meet with renters to provide technical guidance, cost estimates, and recommendations for labor, equipment, sound, and lighting.
  • Communication & Liaison: Act as the bridge between renters, promoters, road crews, and stagehands to ensure smooth coordination during events.
  • Technical Oversight: Coordinate and supervise stagehands and technicians for lighting, sound, rigging, and other production needs, ensuring compliance with facility standards.
  • Equipment & Budget Management: Maintain inventory, oversee repairs and upkeep, and plan budgets for equipment purchases and upgrades.
  • Labor & Policy Compliance: Advise leadership during labor negotiations, ensure staffing levels meet collective bargaining agreements and city policies, and uphold organizational laws and practices.
  • Operational Leadership: Conduct staff meetings, prepare technical materials for renters, operate house sound systems, and serve as Manager on Duty for major events.


Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Three years of experience in technical stage operations and management or related area required.


Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and occasional work at heights; loud environments with frequent interruptions.
  • Regular use of hands for handling, reaching, and communication; frequent walking required.
  • Occasional standing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and use of senses such as taste or smell.
  • Physical demands include regularly lifting/moving up to 10lbs, frequently up to 25lbs, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
